Collagen is a protein molecule that is found in the skin, muscles, tendons and bones and provides basic structural support. With age, collagen is gradually lost in the mid-layers of the skin causing deterioration, deflation and decent, causing facial lines, sagging and wrinkles.
There are all kinds of modalities on the market to stimulate collagen production by putting heat into the tissues. IPL, BBL, Thermage, Titan and ST to name a few. None of their procedures are a replacement for a surgical face-lift but these procedures definitely help especially in early stages of skin aging.
ST’s prolonged heating action penetrates to the collagen and causes it to contract and tighten it. New collagen production is triggered over the following six months. Besides the initial tightening, the full impact will be seen over the next two to six months because new collagen is still being produced.
Treatment of Sun Damage, Hyper pigmentation, Facial Veins, Telangiectasia, Rosacea and Redness with BBL™ (Broad Band Light)
For healthy skin, it is also a great treatment for preventing aging of skin and restoring its youthful look.
BBL Photo rejuvenation uses a technology called Intense Pulsed Light (BBL). At first glance, it is similar to a conventional laser, which emits a fixed wavelength of light. But BBL technology is far different than laser technology. Instead, BBL devices produce a broad spectrum of light in a range of wavelengths. A trained BBL physician or technician customizes these wavelengths to suit your type of skin and its needs.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does BBL do?
The light energy delivered by the BBL gently heaths up the upper layers of your skin. The heath absorbed by the targeted areas will stimulate the skin cells. This will restore your skin to its natural beauty, making it smoother and more vibrant.
What areas can be treated?
Any area of your body can be treated. The most common ones are face, neck, hands, chest and shoulders, which typically are the most exposed to the damaging effects of the sun.
How many treatments will I need?
Depending upon lesions treated anywhere from 2 to 5 treatments will produce the desired results.
How long will it take to recover?
This minimally invasive and gentle procedure can be performed during lunchtime with virtually no downtime.
What should I expect after the treatment?
Typically you may experience some redness that will resolve within a few hours. For some pigmented lesions you will see a darkening of the treated areas followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage. Since results vary depending on patient condition, number of treatments and area treated, your physician will provide you with all the complete information about the post treatment effects and results.
Will it be uncomfortable?
The procedure is gentle and non-invasive. There should be minimal or no discomfort. You will feel like a rubber band snap of the skin as the procedure is performed. However this varies from patient to patient and depends on the depth of the treatment. There is no need for any topical anaesthesia; however patients may choose to use it on more sensitive areas. Your physician will recommend the best options during consultation.
What will happen during the procedure?
Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. You may briefly feel a rubber band snap or warm sensation as the targeted areas absorb the light. Your procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated and the type and depth of the procedure performed. Your physician will discuss all the options with you.
What aftercare do I need?
It is important to follow your physician's instructions. You may be given some skin care products and instructions on how to use them. This will minimize your risk of inflammation or redness and ensure the shortest healing time. You will be sensitive to ultra-violet light and you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed. Fully cover your skin or use a good sunscreen whenever you go outdoors.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Let's face it; excess body hair can be unsightly and embarrassing. Shaving, plucking, waxing and depilatory creams provide temporary fixes that are inconvenient, irritating, messy and only temporary. Electrolysis is time consuming, sometimes painful, and is useful only in removing hair from small areas.
Excess and unwanted hair is a common problem. Women frequently experience this condition on the face, especially the upper lip or eyebrow area, in the bikini area, under the arms or on the legs. Men often wish to rid themselves of hair on their back or chest. They too may have unwanted hair between their eyebrows or on other parts of their face.
Advanced technology lasers and light sources are rapidly changing hair removal treatment, providing gentle, non-invasive and long-lasting solutions to unwanted hair. Laser and IPL™ solutions provide safe, superior results and patient satisfaction.
HOW THE HAIR GROWS
The follicle is where hair originates - it’s a cavity in the skin that holds and protects the active or living cells that become your hair. Because each hair follicle is independent of the others, each hair may be in a different stage of growth at any one time.
There are three phases `of hair growth. The first is the anagen phase where the hair is in an active growth phase. The catagen or transition phase is next, where hair is no longer growing and part of the hair root is destroyed. In the last phase, the telogen or resting phase, the hair remains connected to the follicle, but doesn’t grow. Old hair usually falls out near the end of the resting phase or is pushed out by the incoming hair starting a new cycle.
